Shagreen Embossed Leather: Navy Blue
At Leather Hub, we produce genuine embossed leather hides that deliver the look of exotic reptile skins — at a fraction of the cost and with none of the ethical or legal complications. Every hide in this collection starts as a real animal skin: cowhide or buffalo hide, halal-certified and produced in our own tannery in Pakistan. Our embossers then press decorative patterns into the leather surface using precision heated plates and engraved rollers, creating sharp, durable textures that hold their shape permanently.
We stock over a dozen distinct embossed patterns — crocodile, snake, lizard, shagreen, 3D grass cut, fish cut, geometric grid, vintage weave, metallic foil laminated, retro embossed, and more — in a full range of colours. Our collection of genuine embossed and patterned leather hides covers every major reptile and decorative texture. We also offer custom embossing for brands, designers, and wholesale buyers who need a specific pattern, texture, or finish for their production runs.
Whether you are a fashion designer sourcing materials for a new accessories collection, a leathercraft studio looking for statement hides, or a wholesale buyer needing bulk embossed leather — this is your direct-source supplier.
What is Embossed Leather?
Embossed leather is genuine leather — not synthetic or faux — that has had a decorative pattern mechanically pressed into its surface using heated metal plates or engraved rollers under high pressure. The heat and pressure permanently reshape the grain of the leather, creating a raised (embossed) or recessed (debossed) texture that does not wash out or fade.
The most popular embossed patterns imitate the skins of reptiles and exotic animals: crocodile, alligator, snake, lizard, and stingray (shagreen). These patterns give you the visual impact of genuine exotic leather at a dramatically lower price point — and because the base material is cowhide or buffalo hide rather than a protected species, there are no CITES certificates, no import restrictions, and no legal complications.
Embossed leather is not printed leather, though the two terms are sometimes used interchangeably. Printing applies ink or pigment to the surface. Embossing physically reshapes the leather fiber. Embossed patterns are three-dimensional and tactile — you can feel the texture, not just see it.
Embossed vs Debossed Leather — What is the Difference?
Embossing creates a raised pattern on the leather surface — the design stands above the surrounding material. Debossing does the opposite: the pattern is pressed into the leather, creating a recessed or indented design. Both use the same plate-and-pressure process; the difference is in the plate orientation.
Embossed hide is more common in fashion and accessories because the raised texture catches the light and creates visual depth. Debossed leather gives a cleaner, more understated effect — popular for logo stamping, monograms, and premium minimalist goods. We offer both options at Leather Hub. If you have a specific debossed requirement, contact us for a custom quote.
Our Embossed Leather Pattern Collection
We carry one of the widest ranges of embossed leather patterns available from any direct tannery supplier. Here is what you will find in this collection:
Crocodile Embossed Leather
Our crocodile embossed leather replicates the distinctive rectangular plates of genuine crocodile belly skin — bold, deep-set scales with clear definition between each tile. Available in cowhide and buffalo hide, in natural, metallic, and colored finishes. The croc emboss is our most popular pattern and is suitable for bags, belts, footwear, wallets, and upholstery.
Snake Embossed Leather
Snake embossed leather reproduces the overlapping scale texture of python and boa skins. The pattern features interlocking geometric scales with varying size gradients across the hide. Available in cowhide. Popular for shoes, handbags, belts, and fashion accessories. No CITES paperwork required — this is cowhide with a snake emboss, not genuine python.
Lizard Embossed Leather
Lizard embossed leather captures the fine, tight-grained scale pattern of monitor lizard and varanus hides. The scales are smaller and denser than crocodile, giving a more refined, elegant texture. Available in multiple colors including maroon. Ideal for small leather goods, shoes, and accent panels on bags.
Shagreen Embossed Leather (Stingray Pattern)
Shagreen is the pattern of stingray or ray skin — a dense, pebbly, almost granular texture with an organic randomness. Our shagreen embossed leather is available in navy blue and replicates the look of genuine ray skin precisely. Used in luxury goods, furniture, and statement accessories.
Metallic & Foil Laminated Embossed Leather
Our metallic retro embossed and silver foil laminated hides combine embossed texture with a metallic surface finish — producing hides that catch the light and add high-impact visual drama. Available in cowhide and buffalo hide. Popular for evening bags, fashion footwear, and premium accessories.
3D Grass Cut & Fish Cut Embossed Leather
Our 3D grass cut embossed leather creates a cross-hatch or blade-of-grass texture that gives an unusual depth and shadow play across the hide surface. Fish cut (also called fish scale) creates overlapping circular scale shapes. Both are available in multiple colours including dark blue, red, and mustard. Ideal for statement bags, footwear, and contemporary furniture.
Geometric & Grid Embossed Leather
For a more architectural, contemporary aesthetic, our geometric grid and vertical cut plate patterns deliver clean repeating shapes: diamonds, squares, rectangles, and diagonal lines. Available in maroon and other colours. Popular with fashion designers working in structured accessories and interiors.
Vintage Weave & Retro Embossed Leather
Our vintage weave and retro embossed patterns reproduce woven fabric or basket textures on genuine leather — creating a warm, artisanal aesthetic. Available in brown and off-white. Ideal for bags, journal covers, upholstery, and heritage-style leather goods.
